Summer dresses – choosing the right material, design and colors

One of the things women love most about summer, is the occasions to wear summer dresses. Feminine, light dresses are for many women a much beloved partner through those long, relaxed summer days by the beach, in the garden or shopping with friends. But what is it that makes summer dresses so special, and what should you look for when shopping for them?

The right material

Summer dresses have an informal quality, which makes them relaxing for you to wear and for others to look at. Because they are created for being comfortable in hot weather, they are often in a lightweight fabric which doesn’t cling too much to your skin. Many find cotton and silk to be very pleasant materials to wear in hot weather, and both cotton and silk are often preferred materials for dresses to be worn in summer.

The right design

Summer dresses come in many different designs. Some women prefer modest dresses, where the neckline is not too low and the hem is not too short. Other women don’t mind showing some skin. For designers it is therefore often a challenge to strike the right balance between a design, which is modest and at the same time allows for maximum sun exposure.

The right colors

Dark colors tend to absorb the sunlight and can become very warm when exposed to the sun. This is one reason why light colors are most often chosen for summer dresses. Light colors also have a friendliness and a lightness, which goes so well with the feeling of summer. Florals and butterflies are popular patterns for summer dresses, since these for many women are the essence of summer.
